Cut and Polish FAQ
How much does cut and polish cost in Perth?
Prices start from $280 for 1 stage, $420 for 2 stage and $490 for 3 stage on a hatch, sedan or ute. Larger vehicles cost slightly more, up to $320, $480 and $560 for a 4 door ute, large SUV or 4WD. The final price depends on the condition of your paint.
What is the difference between 1, 2 and 3 stage?
Each stage adds another level of correction. 1 stage improves heavier imperfections and gloss, 2 stage also removes swirl marks and light to medium scratches, and 3 stage adds a final refinement for maximum depth and clarity. We recommend the right level after inspecting your paint.
Will cut and polish remove all scratches?
No. It removes swirl marks, water spots, etching and light to medium scratches from the clear coat. Deeper scratches can often be reduced but not fully removed, and scratches that go through the clear coat need paint repair. We tell you what to expect before we start.
Is it safe for my paint?
Polishing removes a very thin layer of clear coat, so we check paint thickness with a gauge first. If a panel does not have enough clear coat left, we adjust the plan or skip that area.
Do I need a cut and polish before ceramic coating?
Every ceramic coating package already includes paint correction, so you do not need to book it separately. If you only want the correction, choose a stage above, and you can add a coating later to protect the result.
How long do the results last?
Polishing removes defects from the paint rather than just covering them, so the improvement lasts as long as the paint is looked after. New swirl marks can appear from automatic car washes or poor wash technique. A ceramic coating or sealant helps protect the finish.
How do I look after my paint afterwards?
Wash by hand with a pH neutral shampoo and clean microfibre towels, and avoid automatic car washes with brushes. We are happy to recommend products for your car.

Paint correction removes imperfections from your clear coat, such as swirl marks, light scratches, water spots and oxidation, so light reflects evenly again. We work in up to three stages, each with its own pad and polish:
- Stage 1, Heavy Cutting: removes the heavier defects and etching to build a solid base.
- Stage 2, Medium Polishing: refines the finish and removes swirl marks and light to medium scratches.
- Stage 3, Finishing Polish: brings out maximum gloss, depth and clarity.
